Alexander studied film, communication research and political science at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz and Bond University (QLD, Australia). During his studies, he worked as a cinematographer for various film and television productions and was responsible for the camera work of numerous short films.
After graduating in 2009, he focused on producing documentary works for German television. In 2017, he teamed up with director Michael Schwarz to create his cinematic debut, DIE KANDIDATEN. His first feature film, MODELL OLIMPIA (directed by Frédéric Hambalek), celebrated its world premiere at the Black Nights Film Festival in Tallinn in 2020.
Alexander is currently working as a cinematographer on two feature films: DER TOD IST EIN ARSCHLOCH, a documentary about undertaker Eric Wrede and his team, exploring new approaches to grief and death (premiere: Max Ophüls Preis Film Festival 2025), and MARIELLE (AT), an ironic drama currently in post-production, set for release in 2025.
He was nominated for the GERMAN CINEMATOGRAPHY AWARD in 2017 and 2021.
